RED TAILS PREMIERE
Happy
New Year everyone! 2012 is gonna be a HUGE YEAR! Don’t believe this hype about
the world ending because it’s time to get things started!
So on January 20th
2012, I kicked off the eve of my birthday by rolling out to the red carpet
special premiere of the movie, ‘Red Tails.’ Red Tails is the first movie
directed by Anthony Hemingway who is no stranger to directed television shows
like ‘The Wire’. Perhaps, that is how he knew Tristan Wilds who is one of stars
in the Red Tails movie and used to be on ‘The Wire’ and now a current 90210
cast member. It was also great to bump into a sober Cuba Gooding JR. I first
met the actor at the IFFA awards and he was really ‘funny’ that night. Cuba is
one of the stars in the movie but does not say a lot in the movie besides
smoking a pipe. I guess when you’re an Oscar winning actor, you don’t have to
say much and you will still get paid a lot and get the ‘starring’ role. Cuba
was there with his publicist and brought along his friends Anson Carter and
Kevin Weekes. Anson and Kevin are retired Canadian NHL players. I was able to
score an interview Anson and Kevin. Anson Carter who hosted the event was totally chills and is from T.O. I
don’t how he recognized I was from Scarborough! Ahaha Anson’s parents live in
Scarborough too! He is always traveling now and trying to be a great role model
for youth. Anson and I made plans to connect in the future and hopefully he can
make an appearance on the youth radio show I help coordinate. Speaking of
youth, all the youth I brought with me to this movie loved it! They said it was
an incredible experience for them. One youth even had an opportunity to ask
Anson Carter a question! You can catch his interview on my youtube page! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0UFNSOup2wY&list=HL1328483990&feature=mh_lolz
Movie legend George Lucas served as the executive producer in
this war movie based on true events, which allowed African American men the
opportunity to be accepted as fighter pilots after being faced by racism in Tuskegee
recruitment training program. I don’t wanna give out the plot of the movie
because I hate when people do that to me but it is an educational movie for
everyone to see. When I was in my seat at this premiere, I felt like I was
inside plane. Of course, I can never actually know what those men went through.
The movie is packed with great actors. I had to ask my friends if I was seeing
things but Method Man was also in the movie. Another music artist who is in the
movie was r & b singer, NE-YO! Everyone kept asking if sexy actor Terrance
Howard, who was also stars in the movie was on the red carpet but sadly he wasn’t.
In my opinion the true star of the movie was David Oyelowo, who plays the
character ‘Lighting.’ What do you think? Geez people! Cuba is just as amazing! The movie is rated PG and I highly recommend everyone
to see it!
