So, I had the pleasure of interviewing singer, songwriter and now producer Justin Nozuka. Justin has been focused on writing music at a very young age. His first album came out when he was in high school! He springs from a soulful inspiration of music which includes; Lauren Hill, Marvin Gaye, Bob Marley. He also tells me about his Canadian inspirations in Music. Justin talks about his other musical influences and interests which include British rockers Radiohead. At the time of our interview, I didn't have tickets to the show but now I will also be going!
Anyways, we sat down on a beautiful sunny day at Trinity Bellwoods Park in Toronto, which is also near Justin’s home. I learned a lot from this soft spoken young man who is totally concentrated on his music yet is strongly family oriented. This mama’s boy talked to me about everything from his first album “Holly” named after his mom, his latest album "You I Wind Land and Sea" and even a new album in the works for this year! We even caught the street car together and chatted up life in the T.O as he was on his way to meet up with his brother to go to the Art Gallery. Justin is a very friendly, mellow dude and loves to hug a lot, which is fine by me because I’m a hugger too. ;) After, I realized I forgot to take a photo with him as I do with most of the people I interview! Nevertheless, I found out that Justin opened with 2 songs by performing at The Crystal Awards for Canadian Music Week. I was unable to make it for the performance but saw him in the lobby of the Royal York hotel after and was able to get that picture that I missed during our interview.
Please have a listen to our interview for Catch Da Flava Radio. www.catchdaflava.com
We
also shot a mini
video for Crazy Mofoz Show. I look forward to listening to Justin’s new
album
as he is working really hard and endeavoring into producing it as well. I
can’t wait to go to his show when he starts touring with his band! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4L702_o-ks&list=UU8sbqnKmIE08gqksjvBdcgQ&index=1&feature=plcp
