Canadian Music WEEEEEEEEEK











This Year Canadian Music Week rocked! I got a chance to meet so many great people in the music industry. The week was packed with insightful summits, panels, festivals, special concerts and award ceremonies.
Canadian Music week Canadian Music Week is about BIG ideas for a BIG WORLD. Many new Canadian artists and bands showcased their talents at various venues around the city. Other performers included K-OS, Our Lady Peace, Melanie Fiona, Bedouin Soundclash, Saukrates, Sean Jones, Jeff Martin and so much more great talent.

With a craze for Bollywood, this year Canadian Music week had a spotlight on India. Guest Industry speakers from India gave their insight to the booming music growth and popularity in India. Did you know Karlf Wolf is BIG in India?



Under his decade-long stewardship as president/CEO of Universal Music Canada, Randy Lennox was honoured for his work in the music biz and was inducted into 2010 Hall of Fame! Randy signed many Canadian artists including Scarborough gyal Fefe Dobson and rockers Hedley, Sam Roberts and Jully Black. Another honouree was Gary Slaight aka Mr. Radio who won Canadian Music Week’s Humanitarian Spirit Award. Through personal donations and those of the Slaight Family Foundation that collectively totalled more than $40 million, the magnanimous actions of the Edmonton-born president and CEO of Slaight Communications, has touched countless lives here and abroad. Whether it’s been through time, money or effort, Slaight’s genoroisty has benefitted both individuals and organizations such as War Child, hospitals, overseas aid, the arts and youth-driven initiatives. Another HUGE radio personality who got inducted into the Canadian Music & Broadcast Hall of Fame and who was honoured with The Waters Family Lifetime Achievement Award was Chum FM’s Roger Ashby! Love HIM! With a dream of becoming a disk jockey since the age of 10, Roger Ashby has proven to radio listeners he drive and passion for music.
