I first heard Chromeo's music on the MTV show 'My Life As Liz'. The lead chamracter Liz was singing along to Chromeo's single from their second album of the same title ‘Fancy Footwork’. I was digging the track and was wondering who the artist was. It was when my friend told me how she loved Chromeo and that they are no rookies to the music scene. It turns out that Chromeo is even based out of Canada and they released their first album in 2004 called, ‘She’s in Control’. I looked up who these guys and Chromeo consists of two dudes including Patrick Gemayel known as P-Thugg and who also plays the keyboard, synthesizer and a talk box which is an electronic musical device that changes the sounds of your voice and other musical instruments. Neat! The other guy I saw was the lead singer David Macklovitch who’s stage name is Dave1 is actually hot and tall. My friend told me her mutual friend is friends with him on facebook and they got a poke war going on. It seemed legit so I added him to facebook as well. I messaged Dave about having an interview and he actually messaged back saying I should talk to his management. I tried but had no luck. I knew they had an upcoming show at the Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto. I wanted to go to the show and get an interview with them because a lot of people were talking about how sick their music was. I scored tickets to the show and even scored backstage access. The boys had no idea I was coming because we had no interview booked but Crazy Mofoz Show always tries to get the backstage access. Sadly, my camera was stolen on my vacation and my interview was in my video camera and I didn’t upload it!
Nevertheless, the boys from Chromeo seemed too cool for school and I really couldn’t hit on Dave. However, they were nice and offered me snacks including carrots backstage. There show was great! They have an 80’s sound with electro pop to their music. It was a great time especially since I watched the show from the stage! It’s great to see Canadian ethnic musicians creating a unique style of music! Here is a clip from the Chromeo show of them playing their track I Can't Tell You Why which, I caught on my digital camera.
