KICKIN' IT OL' SCHOOL

On Dec 7th, 2007 R & B group NEXT (who I didn't even know were back), Doug E. Fresh, MC LYTE and LiL Vicious put on a extremly late show at the Kool Haus....Next was the first act to come on at 1:30 A.M and only performed for 20 minutes with ONE member MISSING! I ran into Trinity Kris who was enjoying the show backstage. He tried to get us backstage but a jerk ass bouncer at the Kool Haus wouldn't let my friend come with me. Trinity was to mashed to do anything about it. However, thanks for trying hommie. Nevertheless, the one highlight of the show was when I caught a towel from the NEXT boys.

Did you know that MC LYTE MC was one of the first female rappers to point out the sexism and misogyny in the hip hop industry!

M1 for the YOUTHS

M1 the 1 half member of the politically correct rap duo DEAD PREZ, had a forum for racialized youth who face issues in their communities such as; racial profiling, the corrupt education, politics and social system, hip hop music and identity. There was a strong message to incorporate music and media to channel the the youths struggles and issues they face daily in society. The youths have an opportunity to become the next leaders of a country and bring about positive change if they raise their voices and speak up!
The next day M1 and other guests rapped at the el mocabo for a show.

Interview with Canadian Comic Jon Dore

Now you’re Canadian, so that’s a bonus. How different are you from other Canadian comics?
We’re not that different in the sense that we’re all getting up on a stage and telling jokes. We get there the same way. On a scale of 1 to 10, I’m 5 units different.

Jon Dore received the Impression Award for best on-air personality in 2001 for his work with Rogers Television. He previously co-hosted the show in Ottawa. This time around the award ceremony happened in Ontario. Jon stated that it was fun to be recognized.

Jon competed in the Just for Laughs Festival for a few years and for the last 3 years he hosted show. He said his close comedy buddies are Mark Forward Steve Patternson and Pete Zedlacher.

How much do you think Just for Laughs is a good opportunity for stand-ups? It is very important for comedians. It is a good goal to set and to be selected is great because there are networks, agents, and managers are there. So, it gives them an opportunity to see you.

How important to do you think it was to start your career at Rogers? It is very important because it builds up your confidence and you meet some important people along the way. I definitely learned a lot from my time there.

The Jon Dore show is like jackass and Sarah Silverman on acid! Whoa, that’s one big trip! Jon is the creator, writer and host of the Jon Dore show. The first season has 13 episodes and features interview elements linked together with skits. He conducts many interviews from a Buddhist monk to find happiness and a reverend about masturbation.

What advices do you for the youth? Just keep faith in sweet Lord Jesus Christ above, eat as much sugar as you can, try and get up and have nice piece of cinnamon toast. Finally, drink and smoke as much as you can.
