Gorillazzzzzzzzzzz

The Brits came to Toronto at the ACC in the form of the band Gorillaz with their Escape to Plastic Beach World tour. For those of you who don’t know who Gorillaz are, they are a UK band created by band members Damon Albarn , Jamie Hewlett and 4 other members. They have a unique concept, which plays out in their music videos which portrays them as cartoon character in a fictional action musical story. This concept helped lead them into the Guinness Book of World Records as the Most Successful Virtual Band. They brought this visual project on their tour. Their style of music is rock, dub, pop, electronic and even hip hop. The show was great for a while because we had really great seats thanks to our special security friends. Halfway through the show I looked down and I thought I saw Trugoy from the hip hop group De La Soul. De La Soul and I connect a couple years ago when they hooked me up with backstage passes at the Rock the Bells show in Toronto. I knew De La Soul had a track with the Gorillaz and even won a GRAMMY for their collaboration for the hit ‘Feel Good Inc’. However, I wasn’t sure if they would go on tour with the Gorillaz. I kept asking my friend if she knew if that guy near the bottom watching the show was the dude from De La Soul. She had no clue who I was talking about. I should have stuck to my gut instincts because... HELLO..I am the Queen of spotting random celebs. Anyways, there was a misunderstanding with security guards so we were told to leave our amazing seats for the show. As I was leaving, I passed the guy who I thought was in De La Soul. I swiftly went and asked him if he was from De La Soul and he smiled and NODDED! However, I couldn’t have a conversation with him because the brainless security guards were forcing my friend and I to go back p our original seats! Never have I been treated like that and I didn’t want to rat out my security friend who hooked up the seats. I mean do they know who I am? PFFFFT! Needless, to say we didn’t feel like watching the rest of the show because we felt disrespected even though the show was free for us. However, prior to the incident, the show was great! In 2012, Gorillaz will release a single to accompany the launch of a new line of Converse sneakers that they will promote.

Mr Lover Lover

Remember Shaggy? Well the Jamaican, reggae, dance hall, pop singer showed up for a special concert at the Sound Academy in Toronto looking all tired. He sang his hit songs such as; 'It wasn't me', Angel, Hey Sexy Lady, Luv Me, Luv Me and of course his award winning hit, 'Boombastic'. Shaggy loves his Hennessy and M & M's with almonds at every show. Good to see Shaggy still going strong!
