Lake Shore reality star hopeful revived!

Remember the Canadian reality TV pilot 'Lake Shore', which was first introduced in 2010? Well many sleezy Canadians of all races auditioned to be cast on the Canadian version of the MTV hit 'Jersey Shore'. After months of waiting and teasing with trailers, the show was finally cut from ever hitting any network. There were several speculations going around about when the show going to air. I bumped into 'Downtown' Arber Daci aka The Algerian' last year at a club where he is a bartender and he told me the producer is shopping around to see which TV network will pay the most. When I bumped into Salim 'The Lebanese, at Dundas station and asked him the same question, he dodged the question because he was in a rush but was willing to meet with me in person. Salim was sad when the show got cancelled because he hoped it would promote his downtown T.O clothing store, 'REMIX'. The show supposed to feature different ethnic young people living partying together, and of course causing drama. Well, before the potential show hit air, drama already started with one cast member stating racist remarks against the another. Most people felt the show in general was racist and did not really reflect on the multiculturalism and diversity of Toronto.

Well, another potential cast member who wants everyone to know him as Tommy Hollywood aka 'The Czech' aka Lake Shore Tommy aka Pretty Boy Floyd, aka King of the Hood, aka Money May Weather Tommy AKA Reality Wannabe? Anyways, Tommy was the party guy who runs T.O. Although Tommy thought his 15 minutes of fame was over, he is hoping to gain more minutes with his latest appearance on a new MTV Canada show 'MTV Creeps' The synopsis of this new show takes the social network facebook, has 3 creepers and brings on 3 facebook victim to creep their profile on TV. One profile will get ignored, one will get deleted off facebook and one will get added and brought back to the show as a creep and eventually fight it out in the semi final to eventually get their own tv pilot! Well, Tommy Hollywood’s facebook profile gets creeped on. What will happen to this reality star hopeful? Creep his facebook page, Tommy Hollywood and see what happens when he is on MTV’s Creeps! http://www.mtv.ca/tvshows/creeps/video_content.jhtml?id=1677821

SPOTTED The L.A Complex Star

When I came into work last year just before the holidays, I spotted Canadian actor Joe Dinicol in a radio interview. It was only a side profile but I’m the queen of spotting and I thought to myself it was definitely an actor I knew. I had no idea what his name was but I knew he was in a movie with my former co-worker, former Degrassi cast member, actor John Bregar. They both were in the movie ‘Servitude’. When his radio interview was over, I went up to him and was like, ‘Hey, you were in the movie ‘Servitude’ with my buddy John! He was like, ‘That’s right. First gay guy on Degrassi.” Joe was at my work promoting his play Proof, which apparently was really good but sadly was not doing as good as it should have. Joe is signed to a new project and show called ‘The L.A Complex’, where he is a struggling comedian. TThe show also features other struggling young people trying to make it into the entertainment industry including, a producer, a dancer, an actress/singer played by former Degrassi star, Cassie Steele. The Canadian show is produced by Degrassi producers and directed by none other than ‘Snake’ from the ORIGINAL Degrassi Junior High and current principal Mr. Simpson, Stefan Brogren! I had a chance to meet the Stefan at the MMVAs and also at the Degrassi office last year! He’s awesome! The show is great, based on real event and is addicting! Make sure to watch it http://www.muchmusic.com/tv/thelacomplex/

DEGRASSI STARS SPOTTED

I spotted a few cast members of Degrassi in T.O!

I recently spotted Degrassi alumni Raymond Ablack who played ‘Sav’ on the streets of T.O after he just finished an audition. Ray said I looked good! I was kinda surprised by the comment lol That made my whole morning! Thanks Ray! Well, the rock band he was in with some of the other cast members of Degrassi ‘Sound Speed’ broke up due to musical differences. He also told me that even though he graduated from Degrassi, he will still make some appearances for a few episodes especially since tv sister Alli is still on the show. Ray is a great, friendly, talented guy and I hope he does amazing things with his acting and music!

I keep seeing Melinda Shankar who plays Alli everywhere and Sav’s lil sister on the show! First of all, I keep seeing her at a grocery store near her home in sunglasses. I never talk to her when she is shopping. However, I did decide to talk to her when she was with her sister. They were both looking like Divas at waiting for the train at Dundas. I didn’t want to intrude their convo at first but I wanted her to make an appearance for one of my work events. So, I introduced myself and broke the ice by talking about how we first met the MMVA’s. We talked about We Day and I also told her how much the kids love her. She agreed to make an appearance at my work event! She was totally nice!

Argiris Karras plays Riley the gay athlete who struggles with his sexual orientation. Argiris was on the same Dundas subway station platform waiting for our train when the train service stopped running! Everyone was in shock because the reason why the train was at a halt was because a drunken man walked from one station to another on the train tracks! It was annoying because he was making everyone late and it was scary because this guy was walking on the train tracks knowing a train was coming! Speaking of a drunken man, Argiris was reeeeeeeally wasted when I first met him at the MMVAS. He even stepped on my shoes and ain’t no one steps on my shoes! He’s lucky I kept my cool! LoL Argiris was with his friends and they decided to bounce from the scene after the TTC announced shuttle services were being provided.

RED TAILS PREMIERE

Happy New Year everyone! 2012 is gonna be a HUGE YEAR! Don’t believe this hype about the world ending because it’s time to get things started!

So on January 20th 2012, I kicked off the eve of my birthday by rolling out to the red carpet special premiere of the movie, ‘Red Tails.’ Red Tails is the first movie directed by Anthony Hemingway who is no stranger to directed television shows like ‘The Wire’. Perhaps, that is how he knew Tristan Wilds who is one of stars in the Red Tails movie and used to be on ‘The Wire’ and now a current 90210 cast member. It was also great to bump into a sober Cuba Gooding JR. I first met the actor at the IFFA awards and he was really ‘funny’ that night. Cuba is one of the stars in the movie but does not say a lot in the movie besides smoking a pipe. I guess when you’re an Oscar winning actor, you don’t have to say much and you will still get paid a lot and get the ‘starring’ role. Cuba was there with his publicist and brought along his friends Anson Carter and Kevin Weekes. Anson and Kevin are retired Canadian NHL players. I was able to score an interview Anson and Kevin. Anson Carter who hosted the event was totally chills and is from T.O. I don’t how he recognized I was from Scarborough! Ahaha Anson’s parents live in Scarborough too! He is always traveling now and trying to be a great role model for youth. Anson and I made plans to connect in the future and hopefully he can make an appearance on the youth radio show I help coordinate. Speaking of youth, all the youth I brought with me to this movie loved it! They said it was an incredible experience for them. One youth even had an opportunity to ask Anson Carter a question! You can catch his interview on my youtube page! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0UFNSOup2wY&list=HL1328483990&feature=mh_lolz

My interview with Kevin Weekes who is now a commentator for the sports show ‘Hockey Night in Canada’ was funnier because Cuba pops in! Make sure to catch that interview too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nk3bQO49u1U&context=C3d7b727ADOEgsToPDskLZSENsDapehHUrdHgwev_X

Movie legend George Lucas served as the executive producer in this war movie based on true events, which allowed African American men the opportunity to be accepted as fighter pilots after being faced by racism in Tuskegee recruitment training program. I don’t wanna give out the plot of the movie because I hate when people do that to me but it is an educational movie for everyone to see. When I was in my seat at this premiere, I felt like I was inside plane. Of course, I can never actually know what those men went through.

The movie is packed with great actors. I had to ask my friends if I was seeing things but Method Man was also in the movie. Another music artist who is in the movie was r & b singer, NE-YO! Everyone kept asking if sexy actor Terrance Howard, who was also stars in the movie was on the red carpet but sadly he wasn’t. In my opinion the true star of the movie was David Oyelowo, who plays the character ‘Lighting.’ What do you think? Geez people! Cuba is just as amazing!  The movie is rated PG and I highly recommend everyone to see it!
