SRI LANKA BANS AKON

My people in Sri Lanka are not a HUGE fan of African King, AKON! The successful rapper was set have a concert in Sri Lanka but angry religious protesters were against him in the country because they found his 'Sexy Chick' video were there are girls in there bikini's parading around the Buddhist Statue very offensive. Akon apologized but that was not going to change the Sri Lankan government's mind who said no to the 'Locked Up' rapper. Don't worry Akon, not all Sri Lankan's hate you. Exhibit, ME :)

Which City Are you from?

The New Cities is a band from Trois-Rivièrs Quebec. It is in between Montreal and Quebec. The band consists of member David Brown, Chris Bergeron, Nick Denis, Francis Fugere, Phil Lachance, and Julien Martre. The debut album is called, 'Lost in the City Lights' and they are surely getting recognized for their modern dance, pop, rock, and punk sound. The New Cities were not sure if they could make it outside of Quebec because for many bands it's usually a dream which rarely happens. However, for The New Cities they took a risk and made their talent known to the rest of Canada and even went on tour across the UK. You might have heard some of their hit singles such as, 'Dead End Countdown' and 'Hypertronic Superstar.' Catch my interview with front man David Brown as he busted out a lil French for The New Cities fans. Merci beaucoup David! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYWrIhWRd7I

The boys are currently on tour with Canadian band Faber Drive. The New Cities will be hitting up Toronto on May 6 to play at the Phoenix Concert Theatre. Will The New Cities hit up your City? Find out by visiting their official website at

THE BAND...........I MEAN THE MIDWAY STATE

The Midway State is a Canadian band from Collingwood, Ontario. They have a soothing sound of rock and piano. If you like Coldplay, than you will be a fan of The Midway State. Lead vocalist Nathan Ferraro has a dreamy soulful voice. When I first met 'the band', *cough* I mean the boys of The Midway State who are; Nathan Ferraro, Daenen Bramberger, Mike Wise and Mike Kirsh, they totally thought I didn't know their name. LOL I actually like The Midway State.
The boys played a show in Toronto at the MOD Club on March 17th and the Juno nominated band will be at the JUNOS on March 29th. GOOD LUCK! The Midway State's album 'Holes' did pretty good on the music charts with singles such as, 'Never Again' and 'Change for You'.
The boys have been on tours not only in Canada and the U.S but did some international tours as well.
The fellas of The Midway State finished their dinner and talked to Crazy Mofoz Show about what they're up to, who they saw at Canadian Music Week and their 'friendship' with Stereos. Notice the camera shy and member Daenen Bramberger at the table.
AHHAHA Thanks boys. Catch my hilarious interview with The Band......I mean The Midway State over here

Did you know? The Midway State collaborated with LADY GAGA on a track called,

Canadian Idol Newz Flash

Despite rumours of Canadian Idol's return in 2010, I can confirm that Canadian Idol will NOT return to CTV this year. The singing competition got suspended due to the economic 'crises' in Canada. Former Judge, Jake Gold told me during Canadian Music Week as he rolled his eyes that "the show will not return and you can blame CTV for that decision" Geeeeeeeez.

Speaking of Canadian Idol, one former contestant from the show Chris Labelle, is coming out in the music scene. Chris just got signed to CP records. That is the same record company as Danny Fernandes and Belly. The Ottawa native made it up to the semi-finals top 22 on season 4 of Canadian Idol. Chris got his record deal when he took a chance and threw his cd in now manager Manny Dion's car. Manny liked him and instantly signed him after a meeting at the gym. I saw Chris at Chum FM Fan Fest and overheard him tell another reporter that his goal is to perform at Chum Fan Fest next year. Hope your wish comes true Chris. I'm actually feeling his first single 'Living on a Long Shot' Listen to it here http://www.youtube.com/user/chrislabellevideo#p/a/u/2/H4FkKfKtuhQ

P.S The chick in the video is dating Danny Fernandes

Visit Chris Labelle on his website at http://www.chrislabelle.com/

Brotherly Love

Danny Fernandes, Toronto's current Prince of R & B and POP is flying the charts with hit single after single such as, Curious, Fantasy, Never Again, Private Dancer and Addicted. With music running in the family genes, Danny's debut album 'Intro' is blowing up in T.O clubs, charts and radio stations. 'Intro' was co-written and co-produced by rapper and Danny's BFF, Belly.

Danny has a passion for music and dancing as he won numerous dance competitions when he was younger. The Much Music award winner is obviously gonna make more albums. He has a new album coming out at the end of this year, where a new single with Belly will be coming out soon called, 'AUTOMATIC.' Danny even has a deal with Athletes World for a back to school campaign. That's a BIG deal! Congrats. Check out more of my interview with Danny as Danny Fernandes answers questions for Crazy Mofoz Show. Danny shares his passion for music, talks about who he thinks might win in a brotherly music competition and if he is chills with his ex-G Girlicious member, Nichole Cordova. Well, Danny has definitely moved on from Nichole because now he's dating the main chick from his upcoming 'Passenger' video http://www.youtube.com/user/CrazyMofozShow#p/u/4/78KSIpPzpgw

A special thanks to Matt!
Danny's older brother is not stranger to the music industry. He is none other than singer Shawn Desman. Shawn also started off singing and dancing since he was a kid. He blew up the Canadian charts with 2 albums and hit such as, 'Shook', 'Get Ready' and 'Let's Go' Shawn is currently finishing up his 3rd studio album. His first single is called 'Shiver.' Shawn is currently looking for dancers for the new video. Shawn got married in the summer of 2007 to well known choreographer Chantelle Leonardo. The two have a beautiful son.

Did you know Shawn appeared in the video for the Canadian 90's song by Boomtang Boys, Squeeze Toy?

An evening in Paris

Does this guy look familiar? No he is not a porn star! His name is JHEVON PARIS. You might have seen him before. He made a cameo in Stereos 'Summer Girl' and sang with them on the track' Throw Your Hands UP' Well, Jhevon is coming out with his album and having a video shoot on April 6th for his first single 'She Got Me' featuring Stereos member Pat Kordyback. Turn it UP for STEREOS

Alberta pop rock band Stereos NOT THE Stereos playfully talked to me after they won an award for Best New Group/Solo Artist of the Year at the Canadian Radio Music Awards! Congrats!
Amid the loudness as Midway State (who also went on tour with the boys) performed on stage, 3 of the 5 boys, Pat Kordyback, Robb Chalifoux and Daniel Johnson, who have been friends forever, dish on how it feels to represent Canada. They also tell their fans what their next single is going to be and a little tidbit about guitarist and band mate Robb Chalifoux.......do WOP ;) STEREOS are on tour with Hedley and Fefe Dobson across Canada.
The boys reminded me that they are called Stereos not The Stereos. Sorry boys. I never got a chance to research on your band. My bad. The only thing I knew about them were that they were on the Much Music Show, DISBAND. However, the goofy nice boys told me that they were a band for a couple years before Much Music helped make them known to their fans. So Much Music technically didn't make their band.
Personally, I'm kinda feeling some of Stereos tracks like their first single 'Summer Girl' and their latest tune 'Turn it UP.' Fellas my mom heard your track 'Turn it Up' and she's feeling it too. So, if my mom likes you guys, STEREOS is cool in my book. Stereos have a different sound with the help of auto-tune and hip hop/pop/rock flavor in some of their songs. it gives the a new twist for rock bands, however, they consider themselves pop. The boys all listen to different genres of music, where they get their musical influence. Stereos don't want to be streamed into an assumed category. They will be hitting up Toronto for a show on April 5 at the Air Canada Centre and will be having a signing at Adrenaline Tattoos the same day.
Next time I see the boys, I gotta ask what's up with the diamond symbol?

In the meantime, Turn it UP for my STEREOS interview here http://www.youtube.com/user/CrazyMofozShow#p/u/3/eH14kcWQUHY

Julie C Queen BEEEEEEE?!

Do you Remember Canada's FIRST reality show POPSTARS?!!!!!!!! Do you Remember the all-girl group who was created called, SUGAR JONES? Do you Remember their hit single, 'Days Like That?!'

Well, a few years ago I bumped into Mirella Dell'Aquila shopping and she indicted no signs of the group's breakup. Now the group have parted ways and Mirella works as a receptionist in a school. Weird. Others are still focusing on their music career, especially the lovely Montreal native, Julie C. Her image has totally changed and I totally didn't know she came out with 2 solo albums before in 2003 'Café' and in 2007 'A Better Place'. Well, she has a new album coming up but it is untitled for now. Maybe somebody can send me title ideas and I will pass them along to Julie C to see.
Hope BIG thing happen for you hun.

So does Julie C still keep in touch with her former girl group? To find out the answer, check out my interview with Julie C....click here hommie...

The 13th Annual Canadian Radio Music Awards

The 13th Annual Canadian Radio Music Awards took place during Canadian Music week with hosts Hosts Mad Dog & Billie.Performers included, Stereos, The New Cities and Midway State, Karl Wolf and many others. Soooooooo........word is that before Karl Wolf performed, he kinda dissed Stereos lead singer, Pat for using an auto-tune mic. The guys from STEREOS were like WTF? I guess they made peace just before posing for the picture above. What do you all think? Is using a mic with auto-tune legit or should it be considered part of the music as an instrument too? Any thoughts?

At the awards, they also premiered this awesome collaboration of Canadian All-Star singers for K'naan's 'Waving Flag' This video was made to help still homeless and hungry earthquake victims in Haiti. Check it out here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nB7L1BIDELc&feature=player_embedded

Legendary Canadian New Wave Glam Rock band, 'Platinum Blonde' were honored by being inducted into the Hall of Fame at Canadian Music Week. The multiple Juno winners were huge in the 80's and were considered the Canadian Duran Duran's. The once quintuple group are now a triple threat due to the 2008 death of member Kenny MacLean.
Kenny's brother Don MacLean (who's my new bff) told me Kenny was helping make the dreams come true for an aspiring band called, Day 2 Dejavu. Now, Don is taking over and promoting the band's demo disc. A future interview will obviously be here FIRST! In the meantime to listen to some classic Platinum Blonde somebody click somewhere http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMg2keerNHo

SLASH And ANVIL

One of the most anticipated key note speakers for Canadian Music Week was someone who wasn't Canadian. Ex- lead guitarist for G N R and Velvet Revolver, SLASH, sat down for an interview as hey talked about his love for music, family, his friendship with the late Michael Jackson and his battle with drugs.

Slash stated that he is so happy to be a father because his children made him sober. Slash had battled with drugs for many years. He even admitted that when his wife Perla Ferrar told him she was pregnant, he was Oxycontin. Slash discussed that prescription pills is becoming a serious problem especially now that it has killed many of his friends including Michael Jackson. Slash (who made music with M J) was devastated when Michael died because he felt that Michael and him were on the same level when it came to music. They were both so dedicated their lives to music and had the same drive when making music. Slash says that his side project with Velvet Revolver went downhill because everyone in the band especially Scott Weiland was way into drugs. Slash is so grateful to have his wife and two sons, London Emilio and Cash Anthony. He says they are just kids but they play all sorts of instruments such as the drums and piano. Music is defiantly in the genes for these future rock stars.

Slash's influences included Anvil, who are the original Canadian KINGS of Heavy Metal. Anvil informed Slash that he was going to be at Canadian Music week before he even heard the news. For my interview with Anvil click here http://www.youtube.com/user/CrazyMofozShow

Chum FM Fan Fest 2010

For a third year in a row Chum FM Fan Fest has done it again! This year Hedley killed it with Jacob's exciting, energetic and versatile performance. Other performers included Karl Wolf, STEREOS, Faber Drive, Danny Fernandes and Daughtry. A bad news and good news was announced during the show. First the bad news was KE$HIA was supposed to perform but she was doing a television appearance so she had to cancel. So, who replaced her? None other than JOEY Mcintyre from the New Kid on the BLOCK! Joey sang some of his solo material as well as NKOTB's 'SINGLE'. The crowd could care less if Ke$hia showed up. The ladies loved Joey! Joey said, 'I may not be Ke$hia but when I wake up in the morning, I feel like P.Diddy too" ahhaha Yes! I love Joey but I still wish I saw Jordan Knight. He's so dreamy
Girl group Girlicious also performed amidst reports of a coke bust against member Natalie Mejia. I guess Canadian officials didn't care about her numerous packs of cocaine found in her purse a couple nights prior to the show in the States.

Also, Roger Ashby was cool enough to sit down with me in the best seat of the house in his words as we watch some of the great performers. He may or may not have been a lil drunk ahhaha He's awesome.
Great job CHUM FM!
All in all it was a great NIGHT!

Canadian Music WEEEEEEEEEK

This Year Canadian Music Week rocked! I got a chance to meet so many great people in the music industry. The week was packed with insightful summits, panels, festivals, special concerts and award ceremonies.
Canadian Music week Canadian Music Week is about BIG ideas for a BIG WORLD. Many new Canadian artists and bands showcased their talents at various venues around the city. Other performers included K-OS, Our Lady Peace, Melanie Fiona, Bedouin Soundclash, Saukrates, Sean Jones, Jeff Martin and so much more great talent.

With a craze for Bollywood, this year Canadian Music week had a spotlight on India. Guest Industry speakers from India gave their insight to the booming music growth and popularity in India. Did you know Karlf Wolf is BIG in India?

Under his decade-long stewardship as president/CEO of Universal Music Canada, Randy Lennox was honoured for his work in the music biz and was inducted into 2010 Hall of Fame! Randy signed many Canadian artists including Scarborough gyal Fefe Dobson and rockers Hedley, Sam Roberts and Jully Black. Another honouree was Gary Slaight aka Mr. Radio who won Canadian Music Week’s Humanitarian Spirit Award. Through personal donations and those of the Slaight Family Foundation that collectively totalled more than $40 million, the magnanimous actions of the Edmonton-born president and CEO of Slaight Communications, has touched countless lives here and abroad. Whether it’s been through time, money or effort, Slaight’s genoroisty has benefitted both individuals and organizations such as War Child, hospitals, overseas aid, the arts and youth-driven initiatives. Another HUGE radio personality who got inducted into the Canadian Music & Broadcast Hall of Fame and who was honoured with The Waters Family Lifetime Achievement Award was Chum FM’s Roger Ashby! Love HIM! With a dream of becoming a disk jockey since the age of 10, Roger Ashby has proven to radio listeners he drive and passion for music. In 1969 Rog came to Toronto for his first time to be on air for CHUM FM. If you are a fan of Roger Ashby, check out his blog http://www.chumfm.com/Contact/Blogs/blog.aspx?AuthorID=2

And obviously, tune into him weekday mornings on Toronto’s Best station 104.5 Chum FM

Congrats!

I AM WOMAN!

We are all unique, different, strong, beautiful and powerful!
International Women's Day took place on March 6th, 2010.

In a developed country like Canada, sexism still exists in settings such as schools, workplace and the home. Women should always stand up for their rights and unite together to never give up. Just because we live in a dominant hierarchical society doesn't mean we are second class citizens. Don't be silent women, speak up and fight the dominant power, privilege and prestige of the Capitalistic society. REMOVE THE FEAR LADIES!

Check out this inspirational song and video my Canada's own talent a very beautiful singer herself, Ms. Deborah Cox
